Derek R. Boyd

Practice Areas: Mr. Boyd's practice is focused on civil defense litigation, specializing in the defense of physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice suits.

Education: University of Michigan (B.A. in Classical Civilization, 2010); Wayne State University Law School (J.D. 2015).

Bar Association Membership: State Bar of Michigan, 2015-present.

Biography: Prior to bar admission, Mr. Boyd was a Litigation Supervisor and member of the Board of Directors of the Detroit Free Legal Aid Clinic, Inc., working on both family law matters and general civil issues for seniors. In addition, Mr. Boyd worked on international tax issues at General Motors Co., specifically in the area of transfer pricing.

While in law school, Mr. Boyd was a member of both the Wayne Law Review and the Moot Court program. As a member of the Moot Court program, Mr. Boyd competed in the 2014 John J. Gibbons National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition as well as the 2015 National Appellate Advocacy Competition, where he placed among the top ten individual oral argument participants and was a regional finalist.
